The museum and the collection
The largest history and art museum in Hunan province, The Hunan Provincial Museum, was built over a century ago. It has recently been fully renovated and reopened in 2018. The museum is regarded as a cultural landmark and is expected to welcome 3 million visitors every year.
The assignment
As part of the redevelopment plan of the museum, Meyvaert delivered 28 cases: 6 freestanding cases and 22 table cases, all with an air exchange rate of below 0.1 and a centralized active climatic system.
The freestanding cases are opened by both hinged doors and sliding doors. The table cases are opened with a remote controlled hydraulic lifting system, some of these cases are up to 10 meters long.
