The Musée basque et de l'histoire de Bayonne tells the story of Basque culture in South of France, mainly through objects of daily use and artefacts related to religion, dances, festivals and sports. The museum was renovated in 2001. Its scenography was designed by Zen+dCo and shows 3000 objects divided over 20 rooms. Materials, colours and a play of light and shadow create an atmosphere that invites exploration.
Only a limited number of companies passed pre-selection. Price and quality were weighted and scored, leading the museum to select Meyvaert as the supplier.
The work consisted of general fitout elements, such as furniture, podiums and scenery elements.
We supplied custom freestanding and wall standing cases that had particular design elements such as the freestanding cases with inclined back panels and cases with engraved glass fronts. We also applied various mounting methods inside the cases
